Chi-Town Shakti

Yoga + Meditation

Above all, please respect the studio as a sacred space. This is both for your benefit and the benefit of others.

▪ Be early to class. If you are new to the center, please arrive at least 15 minutes early to sign in and register.
▪ No cell phones are permitted anywhere in the studio space.
▪ If you have a health issue (pregnancy, illness, injury or medical condition), please notify your instructor before class. Not every pose is appropriate for everyone.
▪ We offer the option of hands-on adjustments in class in an effort to assist with alignment, enhance relaxation, or to help you explore possibilities in a pose, but we are always happy to work with you hands-free. We will ask permission before adjusting hands-on, but you are also welcome to inform your instructor of your preference before class.
▪ Please stay for the entire class.
▪ Come to practice with an empty stomach (unless a specific condition prevents this).
▪ Try letting go of the competitive mindset. Yoga is noncompetitive. The purpose of yoga is more than just a workout or techniques for relaxation. It calms the mind, opens the heart, and ignites your spiritual evolution.
▪ Attend your correct class level to ensure your comfort and that of other students.
  • We offer yoga mats and props free of charge for your use during class. You are welcome to bring your own mat and props if you prefer.
▪ Teens ages 14 and up are always welcome in any of our Yoga classes.

Finally, most classes finish with a gesture of hands in prayer while saying “Namaste”. Namaste means: I honor the place in you which is of love, of truth, of light and of peace. When you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, we are one. Namaste!
